QuestionAnswer
What is powerskilling?Powerskilling is repeatedly making items over and over to gain skill. Generally the items are sold back to merchants at a loss.
What level do I have to be to craft or become a master? You can craft at any level. A level one could become a master in any craft. Crafting skill is independent from level and experience.
What is the maximum skill level? There is no cap on maximum skill level. However, you can reach a point where all the items available for you to make no longer give you skill gains.
Primary skill, secondary skill, materials skill, what's the difference?Primary skill is the skill for the trade you "signed up" for. If you joined the Armorcrafter's guild, your primary skill is Armorcraft. Secondary skills are primary skills other then your own. For example, Tailoring, Weaponcraft, and Fletching are secondary skills for an Armorcrafter. Typically they are "capped" at a certain percentage of your primary skill. Material skills are Clothworking, Leatherworking, Metalworking, and Woodworking.
What does a "combine" mean?A combine is the final process of assembling an item. Some items require components that must also be crafted. The "combine" is the putting together of those components, or the crafting from raw materials of a complete item. This is also sometimes referred to as an "attempt" since a combine can result in a successful creation of the item, a failure to make the item, a failure with some material loss, or a critical failure (generally the complete loss of all materials or a substantial fraction of the materials used).
What does "maxing" skills mean?Maxing skills generally refers to secondary or material skills. Maxing a secondary skill means raising it to the percentage cap of your primary skill. Maxing material skills means raising them to the level of your primary skill. Primary skills cannot truly be "maxed" since the system is open-ended. Practically there is a point where you cannot gain skill from any item you could possibly make, this could be considered "maxed."
What does "skilling up" mean?Skilling up is the process of raising your crafting skill, generally your primary skill. This is opposed to making items for a purpose other then gaining skill (making armor or weapons for a customer for instance). A "skill up" is also a way to refer to a successful combine where you gain skill.
What's with the con colors, I thought level didn't matter? For crafting, the con colors refer to relative skill, not your level. On the crafting menu where you choose what items to make, the colors have nothing to do with your level. An item that is orange there to a 250 skill crafter would be orange whether they were 5th level or 50th level. Red items are possible to make, but extremely unlikely and prone to substantial material loss and frequent failures. Orange items have fewer failures and lesser material loss, but tend to give skill ups more often then lesser colors. Yellow items still give excellent skill ups, but rarely lose materials on failure. Blue items fail seldom, and material loss is practically non-existent but skill ups are rare. Green items rarely fail with almost no material loss and no skill ups. Grey items don't generally fail or lose materials, but give no skill ups and you also have a chance to make a "masterpiece" or 100% quality item.
How can people find me as a crafter? Most sales are referred by word of mouth but anyone looking for a crafter can use the /who command to search. To make you appear as a crafter in /who use /setwho trades. /setwho class will set it back to the usual.
How can I be listed as a crafter on the Herald?Use the command /webdisplay trades. The Herald update isn't instantaneous, it may take a few hours or days before your character is listed.
What is a consignment?A consignment is a task you get from your trade master. You ask your master for a /s task, and they tell you to create an item. You then create the item and deliver it to the person they specify. The person pays you in coin, coin that covers the cost to make the item and gives some profit. Consignments are only available to the classic tradeskills not the advanced tradeskilss.
How do I get a consignment? Ask your trade master for a task. Typically you can /whisper "help" or "task." Many people make a macro button to roleplay it like: "Do you have a task for me today?"
My trade master won't give me a consignment, what's wrong? This can be two things. First, some trades have two masters. Check the other one. Second, if your material skills are too far behind your primary skill you may not qualify for a consignment. Raise your materials skills and try again
Can I get consignments past level 20?Yes. Consignments are independent of regular tasks. You can get consignment all the way to 650 skill in your Primary craft.
Will consignments take away my regular tasks? No. You can do as many consignments as you like and still do all your tasks for that level. Consignments don't count toward the task total.
I just received a consignment I can't do. What now?Typically that means that your material skills are significantly behind your primary skill. If you have enough coin, make trinkets or other items to raise your material skills. You have two hours to complete the consignment task so you can raise your skills on other items without losing your consignment. If you really don't want to make the item, you can wait out the two hour timer or suicide (character not player please!). Dying will clear your consignment the same way it clears other tasks.
Why aren't I making any money on consignments?Profits are a percentage of the cost of the item. If you skill is below 300 or so you won't see any noticeable profit. Some items, notably scale, chain, and plate armor have much lower profit margins if you are using merchant bought base pieces. The coin you get from a consignment is also affected by quality, if you make a lower quality piece you'll get less.
What determines the quality of the items I make? The quality is random between 94% and your maximum. The maximum quality is determined by your Primary craft skill and the skill requirement of the item. When your skill is more then 50 points over the item requirement you have a 1% chance to craft a "Masterpiece" which is a 100% quality item. When you have reached the 1,000 skill the chances of 94-99% qua is equal and you have a 2% chance of a "Masterpiece" no matter the con of the craft

QuestionAnswer
How do I get these tradeskills quest? You can only get the quest from the Master Trainers in the capital cities

Why can't I put the quest tools in the house/guild vault? You must use then yourself. You cannot trade them, to other players, put them in guild/house vaults, or sell them on the CM.
Can tradeskills tools be recharged? These items CANNOT be recharged
How do I use the Trade Skill tool?Simple equip it(where you would normally hold your weapon) and when it helps you it uses a charge, this may mean when you make any item with the faster tool, or just when you go up in skill with the Smarter tool.

Armorcrafting
QuestionAnswer
Can I avoid using a tailor to make base pieces for scale/chain/plate armor? For the first six tiers of materials you can buy the base pieces from a merchant. If you also work on your Tailoring skill you can make your own, but your Tailoring is limited to 75% of your Armorcrafting skill so you won't be able to Tailor base pieces for all the armor you can make.
